CDR Sessions | Nightwave
Slovenia-born Glasgow based Maya Medvesek, better known as Nightwave is an internationally renowned DJ, producer, vocalist, club promoter & label boss.
On Nightwave’s own tastemaker label Heka Trax (est. 2013) she showcases her passion for versatile and forward-thinking international music by releasing fresh music from artists around the globe, including 3 EPs by the label-boss herself and one featuring Chicago legend DJ Deeon.
Maya is also a passionate advocate for gender equality in the music industry; regularly hosting production and DJ skills workshops for girls as young as eight. She also co-runs Producergirls, a free UK workshop for women and has lectured at the EU initiative in Brussels as well as India as a part of British Council’s Women In Electronic Music project.
Nightwave will be in conversation with CDR founder Tony Nwachukwu discussing production, experiences of running a label, gender equality in the music industry and much more.
The session will be hosted live on our Facebook page and Youtube. We want the element of community connection felt at our regular CDR Sessions to be a big part of these online sessions too, so we encourage you all to get involved in the chat. We hope you’ll also meet some like-minded musicians and music fans and we will be selecting questions from the chat to pose to our guest.
The conversation will be followed by an Open CDR session filled with work-in-progress tracks from the CDR community, streamed across our channels also. Submit your track to be played on our livestream:

Keep up to date on all things CDR
Since we started back in 2001, CDR has been all about community, creating spaces for people to connect and develop through music.
Back in the Plastic People days, you could fit all of us in one small room around one soundsystem. Today, our projects and programmes extend from the dancefloor to schools, youth centres, as well as grassroots clubs and venues across the country and further afield. But in challenging times, with grassroots organisations like ours closing all around us, every bit of support counts.
Your help will enable us to continue delivering music programmes and events in the UK to the people who need it most. Our mission is simple: to build an equitable music ecosystem for producers and artists.
