Manchester based Chunky is an all rounder. A phenomenal MC, DJ and producer, he’s one of the hardest working talents to come out of the warehouse city. Best known for his duties as MC for Swamp 81, True Tiger and Hessle Audio, as well as part of home club nights HIT&RUN & HOYA:HOYA, his repertoire expands past dance music as the frontman of 10 piece Riot Jazz Brass Band.

As a producer, he’s had releases on Swamp 81, TLD Records, and his debut album, “Somebody’s Child” on Eglo Records. His production style flickers from UK bass to post dubstep to deconstruction grime with an exploration of different afro-diasporic sounds related to his Zimbabwean heritage.

If that wasn’t enough, he’s also part of Manchester DIY collective LEVELZ alongside MC Fox, Dub Phizix and Chimpo. Whilst co-founding the ever popular “a party called..” with fellow local legends Anz, Finn, Jungle Joe and Tom Boogizm.

He’ll be at Soup Kitchen on July 27th, sitting down with Poppy Roberts for an insight into his career and creative process over the years.
