Out The Box returns: apply for our next cohort

Applications are now open for the next Out The Box cohort, offering producers the chance to step into some of London’s best studios and work directly with professional mix engineers.

We’re excited to open applications for the next cohort of Out The Box, a programme designed to give producers direct experience working with professional mix engineers in studio environments.

Like everything we do at CDR, the focus is on process. This is not about perfection. It is about understanding your music more deeply, developing your ear, and building confidence in your creative decisions.

Each selected participant will be paired with an experienced mix engineer and two other participants and invited into a professional studio. You’ll spend dedicated time working on one of your tracks, diving deeper into the technical and creative decisions that go into mixing. You’ll have an hour in the studio to explore your track alongside the engineer, ask questions, test ideas, and gain practical insight into how your music translates in a high-quality listening environment.

What to expect

  • A one-hour studio session with a professional mix engineer
  • Real-time feedback on your track
  • Insight into mixing techniques, workflows, and decision-making
  • A supportive, focused environment built around learning and experimentation

Applications are now open.

Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to apply early. Studio sessions take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays during June and July. Applications close on 20 May 2026.
