In Conversation With Gavsborg
Hailing from East Kingston, Jamaica, Gavsborg is the founder of Equiknoxx/Equiknoxx Music. Gavsborg has been producing for over ten years, with his first success being the Billboard charting single, “Step Out” by Busy Signal.
Gavsborg’s left-field approach to production has afforded him the opportunity to work with a wide variety of artists and labels from different corners of music such as: Sam Morton, Addis Pablo, DDS, Busy Signal and more.
Outside music production duties, Gavsborg has toured extensively, both solo and with the Equiknoxx Collective as a DJ & live music performer making stops all over Europe, Australia, the Americas, the United Kingdom, Africa & Asia.
Join us for what will be an immersive conversation with Gavsborg as he uncovers the production process behind some of his most popular tracks and bring your tunes for the opportunity to experience your music being played at Manchester's SOUP.
For those new to CDR Sessions, the event centres on an in-depth, production focussed interview with the guest artist, exploring their career and creative process. Our events are for all music lovers, producers and non-producers alike. The talk is flanked by ‘OpenCDR’ - a DJ set of audience music submissions.
This is a chance for music makers to:
- Hear your own music on an amazing club sound system
- Artists of all experience levels welcome
- No restrictions - all genres & styles welcome
- Bring your music at any stage of development - from rough idea to final master, and everything in between
- Join a supportive community of artists & producers

Keep up to date on all things CDR
Since we started back in 2001, CDR has been all about community, creating spaces for people to connect and develop through music.
Back in the Plastic People days, you could fit all of us in one small room around one soundsystem. Today, our projects and programmes extend from the dancefloor to schools, youth centres, as well as grassroots clubs and venues across the country and further afield. But in challenging times, with grassroots organisations like ours closing all around us, every bit of support counts.
Your help will enable us to continue delivering music programmes and events in the UK to the people who need it most. Our mission is simple: to build an equitable music ecosystem for producers and artists.
