Applications are open: Process

We’re back with another season of Process, a programme which nurtures women, non-binary and trans+ music makers.

Apply here.

Are you looking to take your music production craft to the next level?

Applications are now open for Process – our dedicated programme where we encourage and equip a group of aspiring producers, nurturing their talents over a period of two months, with targeted workshops, masterclasses and direct mentoring from leading practitioners in the music industry.

You will have the option to apply for one of three focused groups, drawing upon three essential elements of music production — Create, Define and Release.

Create teaches the foundations of music production, intended for beginners looking to learn and start their production journey. This will be for producers in the beginning stages of their music development and will be led by Mel Uye-Parker who is a songwriter, vocalist, electronic music producer and Ableton Certified Trainer who’s studied music both academically and through Manchester's vibrant music scene. Her music projects include House of Molly and OMOTE. You can expect to gain a familiarity with Ableton Live, and a deeper understanding of audio and MIDI.

Define equips participants with all the elements necessary to put on an incredible live performance for those wanting to learn how to take their craft to the next level. This is aimed at intermediate to advanced producers who would like to learn more about performing music live, and will be led by our mentor Pops Roberts -  producer, vocalist and  live performer with over 15 years of experience  leading a neo-soul 6-piece band. Lovescene and solo performing as Private Joy on Rhythm Section International. Some of the key focuses of Define will beperformance techniques, gaining a deeper personal practice for rehearsing and assigning control in order to create unforgettable LIVE performances.

Release guides producers on how to release music on their terms, using community-building and strategic guidance on helping producers authentically amplify their voice.  The lead mentor will be Dr. Lulu Le Vay (also known as DJ Lulu Levan), a professional DJ, academic, lecturer, podcaster, music consultant, journalist and author. Her playful brand as a ‘PhDJ’ combines her worlds of music and academia, as her love of music is just as prolific as her love for writing, education and research. Lulu’s research – which spans gender and the media through to feminist pedagogy and supervision – has been published through Routledge and Palgrave MacMillan, with forthcoming work scheduled in 2025 through Intellect Books. Dr. Lulu Le Vay’s guidance will equip you with the necessary skills needed to amplify your reach, both online and in real life.

Process kicks off in early April 2025 and will run until early June 2025. You can apply here. Please fill in our application form by 14th March 2025. If you need additional help or would like more information, please contact Kacherelle Brown at kacherelle@createdefinerelease.com.
