Applications now open: Process

After an invigorating first iteration, Process is back.
“The main thing that I LOVED was the capable, enthusiastic, passionate and overall SO INSPIRING attitude and mindset of the three mentors” – Participant from the first cohort.

After an invigorating first iteration, Process is back.

It’s our dedicated programme which develops and nurtures female, non-binary and trans music enthusiasts and producers in the making. We help a group of aspiring producers take their craft to the next level over 2 months, with targeted workshops, masterclasses and direct mentoring from leading practitioners in music.

You will have the option to apply for one of three focused groups, drawing upon three crucial elements of music production — Create, Define and Release.

Create teaches the foundations of music production, intended for beginners looking to learn and start their production journey. This will be for producers in the beginning stages of their music development and will be led by Mel Uye-Parker who is a songwriter, vocalist, electronic music producer and Ableton Certified Trainer who’s studied music both academically and through Manchester's vibrant music scene. Her music projects include House of Molly and OMOTE. You can expect to gain a familiarity with Ableton Live, and a deeper understanding of audio and MIDI.

Define equips participants with all the elements necessary to put on an incredible live performance for those wanting to learn how to take their craft to the next level. This is aimed at intermediate producers who would like to learn more about performing music live and will be led by our mentor Pops Roberts who’s a producer, vocalist and a live performer with over 15 years of experience – leader of neo-soul 6-piece Lovescene and a solo performer as Private Joy on Rhythm Section International. Some of the key focuses that will be taught are – performance techniques, gaining a deeper personal practice for rehearsing and assigning control to create an unforgettable LIVE performance.

Release focuses on finding your artistic voice and unleashing your music potential for producers who want to enhance their way of releasing music. This is aimed at producers who are struggling with finding their creative voice and how to get their music out into the world and listened to, the lead mentor will be Amy Frenchum who is an artist manager who looks after Mercury-prize winning Ezra Collective and critically acclaimed Yazmin Lacey and shortlisted for Manager of the Year in the 2024 Music Week Awards. She recently joined the progressive, future thinking music company Blue Raincoat Music. For this strand, you'll work on a personalised 6 month release plan applicable for any release.

Process kicks off in early October 2024 and will run until early December 2024. You can apply here. Please fill in our application form by 3 September 2024. If you need additional help or would like more information, please contact Kacherelle Brown at kacherelle@createdefinerelease.com.
