No Good 1.3
Milo is a singer, songwriter and producer based in London with releases on Hospital Records and Peer Music Italy. Listen to ‘No Good’.
“No Good was made a few days before the Bok Bok CDR event in London. As a relatively new producer coming mainly from songwriting, I’ve learned so much from the CDR events and community, so I wanted to share the track at the Open CDR for feedback. This past year, I switched over to Ableton from Logic and have been working on combining indie soul with more minimal club and left-field sonics. Artists like Lil Silva, Joy Orbison and Kelela have provided a lot of inspiration.
As an artist, I lean towards creating tracks with a bit of an ethereal atmosphere, so I started playing around with a wonky string sound using Splice’s Astra synth which produced a glittery, stardust effect, providing the ambience for the track. Tweaking the randomisation slightly added some unpredictability. I then layered it with other synth sounds including synth keys and mallets to add fullness and depth.
I chopped up different vocal samples, live drums and percussion elements, adding lots of reverb and delay to complement the other textures. I also sampled some synth pads using simpler to create a gnarly, guitar sound and chords in the hook section.”
