Arctype is a DJ and producer based in London, and one half of experimental duo GOMID, with releases on TT.

Impulse Rhythm was first heard at our I.JORDAN event at Corsica in London.

“I started this track while amongst the barron industrial-scape of Salford during lockdown. On my bike, I would record the rubble and disregarded materials which shrouded the vacant warehouses.

I then twisted and mirrored these materials to create a kaleidoscopic audial image of the space. All the other elements, including the melodic tones, bass and drums are generated through continual re-rendering of digital textures, synths and feedback (mostly on Cubase).

Having taken a break from the track, I decided to add a melodic element, adding some lightness to the barron space. For this, I used a granular synth, modulating the key stabs to breathe with the rhythm of the track.”
